The 2017 season of Italian chestnuts looks very positive in terms of volumes and quality. In particular Northern Italy is showing a full crop with good volumes and quality.
The first chestnuts for export will be available from the beginning of September with the Euro-japanese hybrids like Bouche de Betizac, which come mainly in large sizes (40-45-50-55).
The first traditional chestnuts will be ready from the mid of September, while from the end of September / beginning of October all the main varieties (including the high profile marrons) will be on offer.
The good volumes will also relieve the pressure on the prices which are expected to be more competitive than in the last years.
